Various quantities of chemical products are placed on the EU market where, despite proper management, unintentional health risks can occur in activities ranging from use to storage. For these cases, healthcare professionals require immediate access to important information that is of critical significant in terms of hazard.
Changes in legislation effective from January 2021
The hazardous mixtures notification system has not been unified for a long time and there have been inconsistencies in the provision of information between states. For this reason, Annex VIII to the CLP Regulation was established in March 2017, which sets out a harmonised format for the submission of information relating to health hazard responses.
Annex VIII shall apply from 1 January 2021 depending on the use of the product. From 1 January 2025, all mixtures hazardous to human health or with physical hazards must be notified using the PCN format.
To simplify the submission of information, ECHA has made a centralised portal available and introduced a uniform format for poison centre notifications (PCN).

Automation of PCN Notification with SBLCore
With SBLCore software, you can easily create a PCN file in the desired format. The software alerts you to all the necessary information and makes it easier for you to fill in the form manually. You can then upload the file to the ECHA portal in the way you choose. SBLCore also supports S2S (System To System) recording.
You can also generate a UFI code, i.e. a unique formula identifier, directly in the software, which is one of the mandatory components of a PCN. To obtain the UFI code, you will only need the mixture specific formulation number and the company VAT number. The software also writes the UFI code in the label and in the resulting safety data sheet.
SBLCore is primarily a tool for creating and managing safety data sheets. It contains a number of features that will give you legislative certainty and reduce the time needed to work with safety data sheets by at least half.
